FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The IECON 2010 Organizing Committees welcome questions from
prospective participants. Due to the large number of site
visitors, it is difficult to personally answer every e-mail.
Therefore, this FAQ page ("frequently asked questions") will be
periodically updated with answers to questions. Please feel free
to submit questions at the CONTACT
page, and revisit this page later to find answers. Answers may
take a few days to appear, so your patience is greatly
appreciated.

Paper Submission Answers
A1. There is a known problem in Internet Explorer when used
with a non-Western character set. Please use another web
browser, such as Firefox, and your problem should be solved.
A2. Final papers and initial submissions share the same
format, as described in the Submission Requirements section.
A3. The IEEE Copyright Release form is completed
electronically (online) when the final manuscript is uploaded.
Initial submissions do not require a copyright release form.
A4. About 1.5% of authors have difficulty producing Xplore
compliant PDFs. In most cases, the software being used does not
embed ALL fonts (despite being directed to do so) - the
submission system reports the error when the submission process
fails. The problem is especially prevalent with many free
converters. Solutions to these special cases are difficult to
describe because there are so many products being used; we
regret that we cannot solve every case. One suggestion is to
contact a nearby colleague who was successful, and ask about
their method and tools. It is a worthwhile investment of time to
learn, since most IEEE publications require compliance.
A5. The conference ID code for IEEE PDF eXpress is
iecon01x
. Authors may reach IEEE PDF eXpress at the For Authors
page (click
here).
Registration Answers
A1. Papers can NOT be published by paying a reduced
registration fee.
A2. No. They are included in the conference registration fee.

area is generally mild. Average
high/low temperatures are 70/59°F (21/15°C). A light sweater for
evening activities is appropriate. Comfortable, casual attire is
perfectly acceptable at the conference.
